MENDHAR, Aug 30: About half a dozen villages in Harni area of Mendhar in district Poonch are without water supply for the last about one month.
The villagers of the area alleged that during massive rains and floods recently, many PHE pipes were washed away, snapping water supply to about half and dozen villages and hamlets. They said the village Panchayat members brought this matter to the notice of concerned PHE staff but they claim that they had no PHE pipes in the store at Mendhar. The issue was well in the notice of AEE PHE Sub- Division Mendhar but the concerned authorities and even the local administration, have failed to restore water supply to the affected villagers. The people are facing lot of hardships and they even held protests 3-4 times on the road but PHE Department has turned deaf ear towards public plight.
