LEH, Aug 27: Ladakh paid rich tribute to UT martyrs Nawang Dorjay Stobdan (NDS) on the eve of their 26th death Anniversary observed today.
Family members, and well wishers, LBA members, Political leaders, Councillors and monks gathered at their memorial park at Skya-Tseks and offered prayer in their memory.
CEC LAHDC Rigzin Spalbar, MLA Nobra Deldan Namgyal, EC Health Dr Sonam Wangchuk, EC for Agriculture Sonam Dorjay, Ex-MLC Norbu LBA President Tsewang Thinles, Ladakh Gonpa Association President Geshes Lobzang Samstan, District Congress President Tsering Samphel, BJP Yuva Morcha President Dorje Angchok, President Anjuman Moin-ul-Islam Sheikh Saif Ud-Din, LBA Youth President Rinchen Namgyal and LBA Women President Tsewang Dolma gathered on the occasion to offer “Khatak” at their memorial Stupa while chanting prayers for the departed soul.
Speaking on the occasion LAHDC CEC Rigzin Spalbar urged the religious organization to start a momentum by create a common platform to involve different political parties so that movement of UT to keep alive and forceful.
LBA President Tsewang Thinles while mentioning about recent development on UT movement and Bhoti language, said that LBA in consultation with other religious organization formed UT and Bhoti language committee headed by venerable Chospel Zotpa and we are holding a meeting in September. He also urged the political leaders to keep UT and Bhoti language in their top agenda election manifesto.
Anjuman Moin-ul-Islam President Sheikh Saif-ud-Din said we should pray and remember the martyrs who laid down their life for sake of others on their anniversary and using such platform all religious organization should collectively make fruitful discussion for the development of Ladakh on such occasion said Saif.
LGA President Geshes Lobzang Samstan, District Congress Committee President Tsering Samphel and Upper Leh Councilor Lobzang Nyantak also spoke on the occasion.
In the end, LBA Youth President Rinchen Namgyal presented vote of thanks.
Meanwhile, city’s all the merchants’ establishment and restaurant remained closed for half day to pay tributes to the martyrs.
It is to mention that Nawang Rinchen, son of Ishey Morup of Samkar Leh, Tsering Stobdan, husband of Tsering Dolkar of Durbuk, Tsewang Dorjey, son of Tsering Dorje of Saboo village and Geshes Lobzang Tsondus were shot dead on August 27, 1989 during an agitation demanding ST status for Ladakh.
