PATNA, Aug 12:
The grand secular alliance comprising JD(U), RJD, Congress and NCP today reached an accord on seat sharing for the  forthcoming Assembly polls in Bihar.      Of the total 243 seats at stake, the ruling JD(U) and its major electoral ally RJD would contest 100 seats each, while Congress has been given 40 seats.
Announcing this at a joint press conference here, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad said that no decision had been taken on allotting number of seats to be given to the Nationalist Congress party and the Samajwadi Party.
A Common Minimum Progamme (CMP) would be chalked out among the partners  of the grand alliance for taking on the NDA at the hustings effectively.       Mr Lalu Prasad said their political adversaries were trying to paint a picture that cracks  had developed, but all such speculations ended today after constituents of the grand  alliance shared seats among themselves in an amicable way.
“The grand alliance has taken a formal shape today,” the RJD chief remarked.       He said that RJD and JD (U) will jointly hold “Swabhiman Rally” at the historic Gandhi  Maidan in Patna on August 30, to give a befitting reply to the rallies of Prime Minister Narendra  Modi, who had insulted Bihar and its people in his speeches.
The RJD supremo said there was no meaning to talk on what he had uttered about Bihar  Chief Minister Nitish Kumar or vice versa, as these were things like having said in  childhood days.
If anyone tried to make reference of such things, it was an attempt to create rift  between them, he said while making an indication that BJP was raking up such  issues and added that the party would not succeed in its sinister design of  weakening the grand alliance, that came up to defeat communal forces.
Mr Prasad said, the aim of the grand alliance was to ensure crushing defeat of BJP, the saffron brigade in Assembly elections in Bihar and all attempts to divert the focus  of the alliance from its mission would be foiled.
RSS would be sent back to Nagpur (HQ of RSS) bare footed after the Assembly  poll in Bihar, he thundered.
Mr Prasad came down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving a clean  chit to BJP Government of Madhya Pradesh where Vyapam scam came to fore. Vyapam  Scam was being investigated by CBI and PM, giving clean chit to the BJP Government,  responsible for the scam, was not only distressing but uncalled for and unwarranted, he  noted.
Mr Prasad lambasted BJP for describing RJD regime in Bihar as’Jungle Raj’, saying  the erstwhile RJD regime Government had given voice to a large number of backwards  and most oppressed.
It was ironical that BJP was trying to paint RJD regime as  ‘Jungle Raj’, which succeeded  in giving voice to the backwards to raise voice seeking their justice, he added. (UNI)
