NEW DELHI : The logjam in the Rajya Sabha continued for the third week as the Upper House was adjourned within minutes of meeting, till 1200 hrs over the demand of resignation of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan and his counterpart Vasundhara Raje in Rajasthan over Lalit Modi and Vyapam controversies.
As soon as the House met for the day, Opposition Members started shouting slogans against the government.
While Congress Members trooped near the Chair’s podium, shouting slogans and displaying placards, other Opposition Members were seen standing at their seats.
Amid the din, Deputy Chairman PJ Kurien adjourned the House till noon.
Some Congress Members wore black bands on their arms to protest against the suspension of 25 Members of the party by Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.
Yesterday, Ms Mahajan suspended 25 Congress parliamentarians for five days for “willfully obstructing the business of the House” and not adhering to her repeated warnings for observing rules. (agencies)
