RAJAHMUNDRY, Andhra Pradesh:The 12-day Godavari Pushkarams began on a tragic note here today, as four pilgrims were killed and 10 injured in a stampede at a Pushkar ghat here this morning.
A large number of pilgrims reached the morning to the Kotagummam bathing ghat early in the morning. As thousands pilgrims tried to rush forward to reach the spot at the earliest, a stamped resulted, in which four pilgrims, including two women , were killed and ten others were injured. One of the deceased was identified as R Lakshmi (55) while the condition of three of the injured was said to be critical.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu who was accompanied by his wife and son Lokesh, and took a holy dip, earlier, was personally monitoring the situation from the control room in Rajhmundry. (AGENCIES)
