JAMMU, June 24: The three-day Regional Training Camp on 73rd Round of NSS being organized by National Sample Survey Office (Field Operations Division) in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India, began today in the Conference Hall of Food Corporation of India, Jammu.
The camp was inaugurated by Rakesh Kumar Kamra, Deputy Director General, NSSO (FOD), Government of India, Jammu. In his inaugural address, Kamra highlighted the role of National Sample Survey Office in developing a sound statistical database for the use by planners and policy makers, researchers and various other agencies at the national and international level. He requested the people of the State to give full cooperation to the field officers of the NSSO and DES, Jammu and also provide correct information.
The training will be attended by the officers and field staff from the NSSO (FOD), Regional office, Jammu, Sub-Regional Office, Udhampur and some officers and field staff of the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, J&K Government.
The NSS 73rd Round is earmarked exclusively to an integrated survey on economic and operational characteristics of “Unincorporated non-agricultural enterprises belonging to three sectors viz. Manufacturing, Trade and Other Services sector (excluding construction)” to supplement the corporate sector data. The data to be collected in this round will help in meeting the requirements of different Ministries, organizations and researchers in general.
The first two days of the training camp will be devoted to the discussions on concepts and definitions, various technical terms and contents of various schedules to be canvassed in the survey. The Third whole day will be devoted to practical training, feedback and Quiz session with a view to assess the understanding of the subject by the trainees.
The training will be imparted by VK Malla, Assistant Director, SL Khajuria, Assistant Director and PN Pandita, Senior Statistical Officer of NSSO (FOD), Government of India, Jammu.
