KATHUA, June 24: The daily wagers of Power Development Department from the district today took out a protest rally from EM&RE Division Kathua to Shaheedi Chowk to press the Government to consider their long pending demands.
Besides daily wagers, the regular employees and PPEU District Kathua members under the leadership of Shakti Gupta, Provincial chairman, Jammu, participated in the rally. Pertinent to mention here that daily wagers of PDD of the district are already on strike for last 13 days under the presidentship of Ram Krishan, District president, Daily Wagers Union, PPEU Kathua and Suchait Singh, District president, Regular employees, PPEU Kathua.
The protesting daily wagers raised slogans against the Government and PDD authorities for ignoring their demands which include regularization of daily wagers of PDD Kathua, who have completed seven years of service, filling of vacant posts of RCL through existing need based workers, convening district level DPC of Tech-IV, shifting of vacant posts of PDC to PDD, regularization of daily wagers and need based workers who are running the 11 KV lines, Sub-Stations and LT line networks, and creating additional postsw of Class IV in EM&RE Division and STD-III Kathua.
Later, a deputation under the chairmanship of Shakti Gupta along with provincial PPEU leaders met Executive Engineer, EM&RE Division, Kathua and put up their demands before him, who gave a patient hearing to the deputation and fixed their meeting with Superintendent Engineer, EM&RE Circle Kathua for tomorrow, so that their demands may be forwarded to Chief Engineer for proper redressal.
