RAMBAN, June 24: Two persons died, when the bike they were riding on collided head on with a truck near Chappa area, falling under the jurisdiction of Batote police station.
As per police sources, a truck bearing registration number JK02T-6595 hit a bike bearing registration number JK02AA-9967 coming from opposite direction at Chappa area of Batote, resulting into on the spot death of pillion rider and serious injuries to rider.
The deceased pillion rider has been identified as Chuni Lal (55), son of Gladu of Nashri.
After getting information, police team from Batote police station rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to hospital, from where he was later referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), but he died on the way to hospital.
The deceased rider has been identified as Jasvinder Singh (30), son of Darshan Singh of Kud.
A case under relevant Sections in this regard has been registered at Batote police station and manhunt has been launched to nab the truck driver, who escaped from the spot leaving behind the vehicle.
