JAMMU, June 4: Accusing the ruling BJP and PDP of trying to divide the State on religious lines, the National Conference MLA Javed Ahmed Rana today claimed that the minorities were not feeling safe under the present regime in the State as well as in the Centre.
“BJP, PDP want to change demographic position of Jammu and divide the State on religious lines  as tried earlier also under the agenda of RSS for trifurcation of the State,” he said while addressing a press conference here today.
While elaborating, the NC MLA from Mendhar alleged that minorities were being targeted and under a well planned conspiracy, the State Government was dislodging nomadic Gujjars from the places where they were settled since centuries.
“Instead of providing them basic necessities of life and settling these nomadic Gujjars permanently, the Government is evicting the land under their possession whereas mafia was allowed to grab the State land under the name of Roshni Act,” he alleged and asked the State as well as Central Government to come out with a plan for settlement of this nomadic community of Jammu & Kashmir on humanitarian grounds.
Urging all the secular forces, political parties and social organizations to come forward for the genuine cause of the nomadic community, Mr Rana stressed that the National Conference would not allow BJP and PDP to revise 1947 like situation in the region.
“People of Jammu will not support the communal agenda of RSS, which has been dreaming of trifurcation of the State on communal lines,” he added and reminded the fate of Jammu State Morcha, which had to be disbanded following rejection of the same in elections.
