JAMMU, June 4: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) today reiterated its demand regarding abrogation of Article 370 giving special powers to J&K and which was the cause of all problems in the State.
The KPC submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard, Leader of Opposition, Gh.Nabi Azad, Home Minister Raj Nath Singh and Governor of J&K State N.N. vohra demanding abrogation of Article 370 from the State of J&K at the earliest.
The memorandum stated that abrogation of Article 370 in need of the hour to curb the secessionist movement in Kashmir. It said that Article 370 was brought in force temporarily in the State , therefore, the so- called special status of Jammu and Kashmir was also temporary, it was never meant to be permanent as understood by the forces who want to take the State out of the political and Constitutional ambit of India.
KPC president Kundan Kashmiri said the analysis of the Article has been based more on rhetoric and less on the actual nature. it is pertinent to mention the provisions incorporated in the Article 370 that empowered the President of India to transfer powers to Union with regards to such other subjects in the Union list and the Concurrent list of the 7th schedule of the Indian constitution which the President specifies with concurrence of the State Government and extend to the State with such modifications and expectations as the President of India would specify.
