NEW DELHI:
The law commission which advises Government on complex legal issues today forayed into the social media domain to help people interact with it directly on issues concerning framing of laws.
Announcing the launch of its facebook, twitter and youtube page, the Law Commission chairman and former Chief Justice of Delhi High Court, A P Shah, said that this will help the Commission to “elicit” public opinion on its various projects.
Shah said that the commission was aware of how the internet has revolutionised the field of communication and its growing use has resulted in widespread activism on social media while a good percentage of urban population are active on one or other social media website.
The Law Commission of India would also like to be part of this growing trend in order to make its presence more prevalent. This will help the commission which works predominantly on a consultative mechanism to elicit public opinion on its various projects. (AGENCIES)
