Kejriwal, Sisodia, other AAP leaders appear in court

NEW DELHI, May 15:
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today appeared before a local court in a case pertaining to their dharna in front of the Rail Bhawan in 2014.
Besides Mr Kejriwal, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, senior AAP leader Somanath Bharti and two other party leaders also appeared in the Patiala House court. The Delhi Police had filed a case against Mr Kejriwal for violating prohibitory orders under Section 144, by holding a dharna outside the Rail Bhavan in the high security zone near Parliament in January last year. the dharna, in which his Ministers and top leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) participated was for demanding action against police officials who had allegedly refused to raid an alleged drug and prostitution racket in South Delhi.
Mr Kejriwal, accompanied by his Ministers had defied the prohibitory orders and tried to march to the North Block to lodge protest with the Home Ministry. The Chief Minister and his Ministers were, however, stopped near the Rail Bhawan as Vijay Chowk and the entire Rajpath were sealed for the Republic Day rehearsal.
The dharna, which lasted for two days, was called off on January 21, 2014 following an assurance from the police and Delhi Lt.Governor.  (UNI)
