Technical education sector to be augmented to promote entrepreneurial culture: Ansari

JAMMU, Apr 20: Minister for Technical Education, Information Technology and Youth Services and Sports, Imran Raza Ansari today said the Government would augment the technical education sector in the State to promote entrepreneurial culture through skill development.
The Minister was addressing officers during a review meeting of the State Board of Technical Education here today. Secretary Technical Education, Khursheed Ahmad Shah, Secretary J&K State Board of Technical Education, Registrar State Board of Technical Education and others senior officers were present at the meeting.
Asking the officers to ensure maximum use of Information Technology, the Minister said shift to IT use would benefit the students by facilitating online registration, online submission of examination forms, generating hall tickets etc. He said it is the endeavour of the Government to extend all possible facilities to the students who are pursuing various technical courses.
Ansari asked the officers to ensure that various other streams like Travel and Tourism, Architectural Assistantship, Wood Technology, Textile Technology, Food and Information Technology are also introduced in various Polytechnics and ITIs so that the youth can be trained in these courses also which have a huge employment potential.
The Minister also directed for speedy construction of various infrastructural projects being undertaken by the Technical Board. He said close coordination should be maintained between various agencies involved in the construction work so that the same can be speeded up and works accomplished within the stipulated time-frame.
Ansari also directed the officers to undertake comprehensive awareness program to educate aspiring students about various courses being offered by the Technical Education Department. He said the officers should work in close coordination to ensure maximum outreach is ensured especially in rural and far-flung areas.
Secretary, Technical Education also addressed the meeting and projected various issues related to the Board of Technical Education. He also gave a brief about the activities undertaken by the Board during the last year.
