Srinagar, Jan 20: As the Public Service Commission is still defunct, 99 KAS officers who were selected in August last year, are awaiting appointment, leaving them in despair and also affecting administrative working.
These 99 candidates cracked the competitive exam in August last year following the applications for these posts by PSC in June 2013.
The recruiting agency conducted the preliminary test on September 29, 2013 and the mains examination was conducted in March-April 2014. The interviews were conducted from 23 June 2014.
The process for the appointment these KAS officers, which was set into motion more than a year back, is hanging in balance due to the political impasse in the state.
With the imposition of Governor’s rule, the candidates hope that the body will be made functional as the selection of members would be without political interference and nepotism.
“The political impasse has become a roadblock in our appointment as the PSC is still member-less. We appeal to the Governor to appoint chairman and members of the PSC so that we can contribute our skills and knowledge to the administration,” a group of selected candidates told Excelsior.
Following the retirement of its chairman S L Bhat on September 10, the then Government had on October 10 approved appointment of Khurshid Ahmad Ganaie, Financial Commissioner, Industries & Commerce Department of the state as Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission.
However, the process of appointment of KAS officers was further delayed after Governor N N Vohra in October last year raised objections over the names of the administrators recommended by the Government for the PSC posts.
