LAHORE:To assess his remodeled bowling action, suspended Pakistan off spinner Saeed Ajmal will undergo official ICC testing in Chennai on January 24. Speaking to a local television channel, a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) spokesperson said, “PCB approached ICC to have an official test of Saeed Ajmal. ICC has now given us the date of January 24, but it is tentative and we are yet to receive confirmation from ICC.” Ajmal was suspended from bowling in September after his action was deemed to be illegal for all deliveries, and he was not ready with his reworked action in time to make it to Pakistan’s squad for the World Cup – the deadline for submitting squads to the ICC was January 7. If he fails to clear the test on January 24, he will face a one-year ban from bowling in all forms of cricket. Ajmal’s action came under scrutiny during the Test series against Sri Lanka in August, when the umpires reported him for possessing a suspect bowling action. (AGENCIES)
