JAMMU, July 28: All J&K Electric Department Linemen & Workers Union has expressed serious concern over the recent deaths of Linemen and other PDD workers while on duty particularly in R S Pura and stressed for some precautionary measures and expressed lack of concern by higher officials.
In a meeting of the Union held here today under the chairmanship of Ashiq Hussain, it was said that Lineman Sardari Lal suffered electric shocks on July 15 in R S Pura while working on electric pole and died on the spot. A local was also killed as an electric wire fell on him in the area. Several more deaths and serious accidents have taken place and the department has failed to take precautionary measures.
He said due to damage caused to LT lines, some linemen are being implicated in litigation which is wrong. The worn out wires be removed and changed, he said and urged the higher authorities to take note of it.
