RAJOURI, Dec 2: Making call to avoid stealing practice in the research, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University has arranged 10 days workshop for researchers of various Universities in which experts have been invited to train the scholars regarding information literacy and plagiarism.
In the opening session of the workshop, Vice Chancellor Prof Irshad A Hamal said that there is no difference between a thief and a person who steal the actual work of others and present it as his/ her own in the research. He called upon all researchers to shun the practice and present pure research before the world so that it can contribute for human welfare.
Earlier during the workshop, which is organized by Central Library of the University, the keynote address was presented by convener of workshop and Assistant Librarian Ramesh Pandita who gave detailed data about the future course of action for 10 days. He said that resource persons like Dr Manorma Tripathi, Shivendra Singh and Dr A.M Baba will train the scholars during these 10 days.
On the occasion, Dean of Academics Prof AK Koul threw light on the ethics of research.
Registrar Mohammad Rashid Chowdhary spoke at length on the issue of plagiarism. He said that plagiarism is making use of other people’s ideas, words, creative works and expressions without giving credit or otherwise listing the source of the information.
In the programme, Dr Zaheer Abass compered while Majid Malik Assistant Professor presented vote of thanks.
Others who were present included Controller Examination Mohammad Ishaq, Principal Polytechnic Col KK Dogra, Special Secretary to VC Suneet Gupta, Chair Professor of Mahatma Gandhi Chair for Ecology and Environment Prof GH Dar, HoD Management Studies Prof SK Gupta and head of all departments, faculty members, staff of library & scholars.
