JAMMU, Oct 27: The J&K Co-ordination Committee of Estates Employees today suspended their ongoing strike following the assurance by Director Estates and other officers of the Department for a positive consideration to the demands of the Estates employees.
According to a handout, issued by the Co-ordination Committee, Director Estates held a meeting with the agitating employees and said that all their demands were genuine and would be considered soon after the Darbar offices open in Jammu. The Director assured that he would personally convene a meeting of the officers and representatives of the Co-ordination committee for settlement of all the agreed demands of the employees without any further loss of time.
Deputy Director Estates, Jammu and Executive Engineer Estates Division Jammu were also present in the meeting between employees and the Director.
Pertinent to mention that the Estates employees are demanding re-organization of the Department, regularization of daily rated workers, holding of DPC type test instead of computer test, release of pending wages of Casual workers, time bound promotion, provision of two and half day additional pay, issuance of appointment orders under SRO-43, construction of building for housing the office of Dy Director Estates near the office of Executive Engineer Estates, Division Jammu and implementation of transfer policy besides shifting the Engineering and Clerical cadre employees, who are sitting in the department since decades.
Earlier, the Co-ordination Committee members held a protest demonstration, which was addressed by Prem Singh Baba, Rash Paul Sharma, Puran Chand, Tilak Raj, Subash Chander and others.
