JAMMU, Oct 21: The State Vigilance Organization has booked several officers and officials of Social Forestry and Agriculture Department for misappropriation of funds in implementation of Haryali Scheme at Madha Chenani, during the year 2008-09.
A case FIR number 29/2014 has been registered in Police Station VOJ against Chuni Lal, Range Officer, Social Forestry, Sukhdev Raj Sumberia, Soil Conservation Assistant Agriculture Department, Subash Kumar, Block Officer Social Forestry, Shankar Singh, Helper Social Forestry (Watershed Development Committee Madha, Chenani), Prakash Singh, Chairman and Romesh Chander, Secretary Watershed Development Committee, Madha-II, Chennai Udhampur.
The act of Commission and omission constitutes offences under section 5(1) (c) read with 5(2) J&K P.C Act Svt 2006, 120 –B RPC against the accused officers/ officials who connived with the Chairman and Secretary of Watershed Development Committee Madha-II Chenani, Udhampur and prepared and authenticated Muster Sheets.
The investigations by Vigilance Organization established that the schedule rate fixed by Department of Social Forestry @ Rs 7.76/- per sapling was not paid to the persons/beneficiaries. Instead of the schedule rate, payment @ Rs 2.50/- per sapling was paid to the beneficiaries and the difference amounting to Rs 63,250/- was misappropriated.
