JAMMU, June 2: A deputation of the Old Janipur Civil Society Action Committee, led by its chairman and social activist Kulwant Singh Sambyal, met Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Commissioner Dr Devansh Yadav and highlighted several long-pending civic issues affecting residents of Old Janipur and adjoining areas.
During the meeting, the deputation sought urgent attention towards the deteriorating condition of Subhash Chander Bharat Mata JDA Park and demanded improvement of civic infrastructure in the area.
The committee also raised issues related to non-functional streetlights, damaged roads, drains, lanes, sanitation and public safety in various localities of Old Janipur.
The deputation demanded installation of floodlights and high-resolution CCTV cameras linked to the nearest police station, repair and renovation of public bathrooms and the temple within the park premises, and development of a new park at Indira Vihar Mohalla.
It also sought handing over of the Bharat Mata JDA Park to JMC for proper upkeep and maintenance, construction of two community halls for senior citizens, covering of an open nullah at Pandoka Colony and renovation of a community hall at Shant Nagar.
The committee further demanded construction of separate public toilets for men and women at the chowk on High Court Road in Old Janipur.
Dr Devansh Yadav gave a patient hearing to the deputation and assured the members that all issues raised during the meeting would be examined and appropriate action would be taken on priority.
