JAMMU, June 2: A delegation of JKNOPRUF met the visiting 8th Central Pay Commission projected the issues of employees and pensioners.
The team of the National Old Pension Restoration United Front (NOPRUF), Jammu and Kashmir had an in-depth interactive session with the Pay Commission and discussed crucial structural and welfare reforms.
The JKNOPRUF delegation, led by UT president Rajesh Kumar Sharma, along with general secretary Sakoon Manir and Provincial president NOPRUF Kashmir Binny Tondon, presented a comprehensive memorandum outlining the critical demands and long-pending grievances of the workforce.
During the extensive interaction, the JKNOPRUF team deliberated on every single point recommended in their official memorandum. The 8th Central Pay Commission took diligent note of the arguments put forward by the leadership and assured the delegation that every point would be thoroughly taken into consideration, promising that the needful action would be undertaken to safeguard employee welfare.
Key demands highlighted in the memorandum included restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS); scrapping the market-dependent New Pension Scheme (NPS) to guarantee robust social security and protect retirees from market volatility; fixing the minimum fitment factor at 3.2, establishing a minimum basic pay of Rs 57,600 per month, and enhancing annual increments from 3% to 5%.
They further projected a realistic revision of Dearness Allowance (DA) linked to actual market prices, increasing House Rent Allowance (HRA) up to 42% for X-Class cities, and setting a tiered Transport Allowance (TA) reaching up to Rs 9,000 + DA for levels above Level-8. On welfare and gender-equal leave policies, they stressed for landmark inclusion of two years of Child Care Leave (CCL) for male employees to ensure shared parenting.
