24 bovines rescued

UDHAMPUR, May 31: Police foiled two bovine smuggling attempts during naka checking at Phalata Chowk and Tikri Naka on NHW, rescuing 24 bovine animals.
During checking, two canters bearing registration numbers JK03P-9380 and JK02AL-2195 were signaled to stop. However, both drivers abandoned their vehicles and fled from the spot. Upon checking, 12 bovine animals were found loaded in each vehicle (total 24 bovines).
All the bovines were rescued and both the vehicles have been seized. Accordingly, two FIR numbers 122/2026 and 123/2026 under Section 223 BNS and Section 11 PCA Act have been registered at Police Station Rehambal. Further investigation is in progress.
