JAIPUR, May 31 : Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Sunday said that 15 volunteers from the state will participate in the Centre’s ‘Viksit Bharat Vibrant Village Programme’ and engage in nation-building activities in border villages of Himachal Pradesh.
Extending his wishes to the selected ‘My Bharat’ volunteers, Sharma said the initiative will strengthen values of patriotism, leadership and social responsibility among participants through service in remote border areas.
The programme is being organised jointly by the Union Ministries of Youth Affairs and Sports and Home Affairs. A total of 100 youths from across the country have been selected, including 15 from Rajasthan, who have been chosen through a competitive national-level quiz conducted on the ‘My Bharat’ portal.
“These young volunteers will get an opportunity to closely understand the challenges, lifestyle, culture and developmental needs of border areas while working alongside personnel of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP),” the chief minister said.
He added that the experience would inspire the youth to contribute positively towards nation-building and public awareness efforts.
The volunteers will undergo a three-day orientation programme from June 3 to 5 at the base camp in Reckong Peo in Himachal Pradesh to prepare for the difficult geographical and climatic conditions.
From June 6 to 12, they will stay in 20 identified border villages, interacting with local communities and gaining first-hand exposure to social, cultural and developmental aspects of the region.
Sharma expressed confidence that the volunteers will not only actively contribute during the programme but also effectively represent Rajasthan’s rich folk culture, traditions and values.
“After returning, their experiences will help promote social awareness, youth participation and nation-building activities in the state,” he said.
Highlighting the selection process, officials said over 2.59 lakh youth participated in the nationwide ‘Viksit Bharat Vibrant Village Quiz’, including more than 16,000 from Rajasthan, out of whom the top 15 performers were selected.
The chief minister said youth play a crucial role in building a developed India and noted that Rajasthan’s young population continues to contribute actively towards this goal. (PTI)
