JAMMU, May 26: The J&K Congress Committee working president, Raman Bhalla today said that women who make half of the population of the country, have great power to bring major change in the society.
While interacting with a large number of women party activists and general public during his outreach programme at Chatha Pind in Jammu South Assembly constituency, PCC leader said that women, who make half of the population of the country, have the power to bring major change in society and the nation. He added that when women are aware and empowered, they can transform society and the country.
Bhalla said that women today are contributing in every field and playing a vital role in the development of the nation. He stated that women cannot be confined only to households, as they have established their presence in politics, education, social service, and the economic sector as well.
Congress leader said that rising inflation is having the biggest impact on women’s kitchens. Women, who manage household budgets, are facing increasing difficulties in running their homes due to the rising prices of LPG cylinders, edible oil, pulses, vegetables, and other essential commodities.
He said that inflation directly affects household kitchens because women are primarily responsible for managing food and domestic expenses for their families. Rising prices have increased both their concerns and responsibilities.
Bhalla said that the Congress has always worked for the dignity, rights, and empowerment of women. Congress gave the country its first woman Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, who set an example of women’s leadership. During the Congress era, the country also got its first woman President, Pratibha Patil, who brought pride to women.
