Bhalla accuses Govts in J&K and Centre of betraying youth, employees

JAMMU, May 22: JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla on Thursday launched a scathing attack on both the J&K UT Government and the Union Government, accusing them of failing the people on every major front, including employment generation, regularization of daily wagers, restoration of statehood, inflation control and strengthening of basic infrastructure in rural and urban areas alike.
Addressing a public meeting organised at Darsopur in R S Pura South by S Gurmeet Singh, Block President Miran Sahib, along with Amrit Bali, Bhalla expressed serious concern over the growing frustration and alienation among unemployed youth due to the absence of fresh recruitment drives and lack of employment opportunities in Jammu and Kashmir. He alleged that the Governments at the Centre and in the Union Territory have completely failed to address the pressing issues confronting common people. He said despite repeated promises made to unemployed youth, no substantial recruitment process has been initiated, resulting in increasing despair among educated young men and women.
The Congress leader further criticized the administration for failing to regularize thousands of daily wagers, casual labourers and adhoc employees working in different Government departments for years. “The youth of Jammu and Kashmir are feeling betrayed due to unfulfilled promises regarding jobs and economic opportunities.
Bhalla also raised concern over unscheduled power cuts and irregular water supply affecting both rural and urban populations. He accused the administration of failing to strengthen essential public services and pointed towards acute staff shortages in hospitals, schools and colleges across Jammu and Kashmir.
Targeting the Union Government over the delay in restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, Bhalla termed the delay as a betrayal of public trust and democratic aspirations.
Calling upon party workers to intensify public outreach programmes, Bhalla emphasized the need to strengthen the Congress party at the grassroots level and remain connected with the issues of common people. Among other prominent leaders present on the occasion were Jatin Raina, S Rajinder Singh Nathu, Chairman Minority Cell Congress, Jatinder Bhagat, I P Singh, Arvind Kumar Tooti, Harvinder Singh Kaku and Babu Singh.
