Srinagar, May 22: The Private Schools Association (PSA) today urged the J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE) to introduce a time-bound mechanism for clearing pending affiliation and renewal of files, warning that prolonged procedural delays were affecting the functioning of private institutions and the academic interests of students across J&K.
The demand was raised during a high-level meeting between a PSA delegation and JKBOSE Chairman Sheikh Ghulam Hassan here, where several issues related to private schools, including land disputes, lease deed complications and pending administrative approvals, were discussed in detail.
The delegation, led by PSA president Bilal Ahmad Bhat, told the Board authorities that many schools were facing uncertainty due to delays in processing affiliation-related matters despite completing the required formalities.
“Private educational institutions are contributing immensely towards quality education, employment and academic development in Jammu and Kashmir. We urged the Chairman JKBOSE to ensure speedy processing of affiliation and other pending matters so that schools can function without unnecessary administrative hurdles,” Bhat said after the meeting.
Senior vice-president Manzoor Ahmad Rather said unresolved land and lease deed issues had become a major concern for several schools and were affecting long-term institutional planning.
“We requested the Board authorities to facilitate a smooth mechanism for resolving lease deed and land-related complications. Such issues directly impact institutional stability,” he said.
General secretary (organisation) M. Syed Wani sought a transparent and time-bound framework for disposal of pending files, saying educational institutions should not suffer because of procedural delays.
The PSA also raised concerns over the difficulties faced by schools operating in far-flung areas. District president Bandipora Dr Yasir Ahmad said institutions in remote regions required a more “practical and student-centric approach” from the authorities.
JKBOSE Chairman Sheikh Ghulam Hassan, according to the association, assured the delegation that all genuine concerns would be examined in accordance with established rules and procedures.
