Mortal remains of Odia youth killed in Russia drone attack brought back to Odisha

BHUBANESHWAR, May 21: The mortal remains of an Odia youth who was killed in a drone attack in Russia amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict were brought back to Odisha on Thursday with the assistance of the Ministry of External Affairs and the Odisha Government.
The deceased, identified as A. Ramaya of Madhabandha village in Odisha’s Ganjam district, had been working in a company in Moscow.
According to reports, Ramaya lost his life in a drone attack on May 17 during the continuing Russia-Ukraine war.
Following the incident, the family members appealed to the Government for the repatriation of his mortal remains to Odisha.
Acting on the request, the Ministry of External Affairs, the Office of the Principal Resident Commissioner of the Odisha Government in New Delhi, the Directorate of Odisha Paribar under the Department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture, and the Ganjam district administration coordinated efforts to facilitate the return of the body.
After the mortal remains arrived at the Biju Patnaik International Airport here, Officer on Special Duty of Odisha Paribar Pritish Panda supervised arrangements for transporting the body to the deceased’s native village in Ganjam district.
