PWF organizes programme titled ‘Asluk Aalav’ in Shopian

SHOPIAN, May 21: With an aim to promote constructive public dialogue and societal reform, a social transformation programme titled “Asluk Aalav”, based on five major reformative agendas, was held here today.
The event was organised by the Public Welfare Foundation (PWF) Shopian and witnessed participation from prominent social, political and religious figures.

In her address, Dr Andrabi described Asluk Aalav as a powerful initiative for social transformation and public discourse, being regularly conducted across districts of Kashmir.
She emphasized that a vibrant society must remain concerned about its future and actively engage in shaping it and stressed the need to strengthen cultural and spiritual ties with the region’s rich legacy of Sufis and Rishis, stating that their teachings of inclusiveness can safeguard society from divisive forces.
“We have suffered due to hate and violence in the past and cannot afford to face such divisions again. It is essential to strengthen peace and build a fearless, progressive society,” she added.
Ashok Koul, in his address, focused on preparing youth to face modern challenges with a positive mindset. He called for nurturing responsible citizens who are physically and mentally healthy.
“Communal harmony, brotherhood and a spirit of social service are essential for building a peaceful society. We must bridge gaps within our social fabric through dialogue and understanding,” he said, adding that inter-community interaction is key to sustained development and peace.
Among others who were present included Shopian Javed Qadiri, Arshid Bhat, Mufti Azmat Nizami, Hafiz Saleem, Molvi Peerzada Fayaz, Molvi Peerzada Tariq, Molvi Javid Iqbal, Peerzada Nisar Ahmad Shah, Secretary Farooq Ahmad Shah, General Secretary Fayaz Ahmad, Fruit Mandi Association president Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Retired Police Officers Association president Haji Gh Qadir Shah, Fruit Growers president Mohammad Rafiq Khan and Alamdaar Cold Storage president Aashiq Hussain.
The programme concluded with a collective call for strengthening social unity, promoting dialogue and ensuring a progressive and peaceful future for society.
