Apni Party protests against demolition drive

JAMMU, May 20: Apni Party leaders here today staged a protest demonstration at Sidhra demanding stern action against the alleged erring Forest Department officials, the administration and those who allegedly facilitated the demolition drive targeting civilian houses.
A delegation of senior Apni Party leaders, led by provincial president Jammu, S. Manjit Singh, visited the demolition site to express solidarity with the affected families.
During visit, the delegation inspected demolished houses and interacted with the aggrieved residents.
“People are worried about their future, especially when elected representatives have failed to protect their rights,” said Manjit Singh.
He claimed that the authorities acted unlawfully by demolishing houses and forcing inhabitants, including women and minor children, out of their homes.
“This approach has divided the Jammu region and it is a dangerous trend that must be handled with care and proper consultation with all communities. Jammu has always been a land of peace and some elements want to create a hostile atmosphere,” Singh maintained condemning the drive.
Prominent among those who met the victims in Sidhra were general secretary, Arun Kumar Chibber, Bodh Raj Bhagat, district president Jammu Urban, Abhay Bakaya, Neelam Gupta, Joginder, G.L Pandita, Pavneet Kour, district vice president Samba, Farooq Chauhan, district president Minority Wing, Dalbir Singh, in-charge Social Media and Vaibhav Mattoo.
