RAJOURI, May 19: Panic spread in the Kotranka area of Rajouri district on Tuesday after a suspected rusted shell was found lying near a stream, near a Forest Department guard room.
According to reports, the suspected shell was found near the stream flowing alongside the Forest guard room in the general area of Kotranka. During the initial examination, it was identified as an old and rusted illumination round shell. Keeping in view any possible threat, security arrangements in the area were immediately tightened.
Soon after receiving the information, a team from the Special Operations Group (SOG) Kandi reached the spot and launched a thorough search operation in the surrounding area. Security experts carefully took the shell into custody and later shifted it to an isolated and secure location, where it was safely defused in a controlled manner. Officials stated that timely action helped avert any untoward incident.
