BUDGAM, May 19: Social transformation programme series ‘Asluk’ continues throughout Kashmir Valley and today a grand event was held at Town Hall in Budgam.
This event was organised by Al-Rahim Trust. J&K Waqf Board Chairperson Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi attended and addressed the programne along with BJP J&K. general secretary (Org) Ashok Koul.
In her address Dr Andrabi said that the drug network had been working in J&K along with the terror network since 1989 and it has very deep roots in the society. “J&K has to be part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat mission of the Prime Minister. The mission against Narco-terror has become a mass movement in J&K. It will take time to eradicate this menace from the society. But consistent and strong actions only can pave way for success”, Darakhshan said.
She further reminded that it was J&K Waqf Board which started the movement two years back in J&K and the Imams & Khateebs of Waqf Board managed mosques and shrines are regularly speaking against this drug menace.
“There are many people in our rotten political systems who have objected to strong punishments to drug peddlers. There are others who are presenting deviating narratives only to sabotage this mass movement. But the majority population has stood up against this menace under LG’s leadership and the police is doing a wonderful job”, Andrabi added.
Addressing the event, Ashok Koul said that social transformation was a must for a successful life. He stressed on the need of preserving our cultural traditions and social morals for our young generation. “Kashmir’s harmonious cultural existence is based on the shared values across different religious and linguistic domains. We need to create a drug free, peaceful and tolerant future generation so that our cultural identity remains in harmony with the changing world requirements “, Koul said.
Religious preachers, Maulana Owais Qadiri also addressed the gathering.
