Cluster University of Jammu earns place in Nature Index 2025

JAMMU, May 17: Cluster University of Jammu has secured a place for the first time in the prestigious Nature Index 2025 rankings.
The university has been ranked 253rd among 818 Indian institutions featured in the index, marking a major recognition of its growing contribution to high-quality scientific research.
The Nature Index tracks primary research articles published in 145 leading natural science and health science journals, selected by an independent panel of researchers based on their reputation and impact.
At the national level, Indian Institute of Science tops the rankings among Indian institutions whereas among institutions from Jammu and Kashmir, Indian Institute of Technology Jammu secured the highest position at 46th rank in the country. University of Jammu and National Institute of Technology Srinagar were ranked 121st and 124th respectively, while University of Kashmir was placed at 206th. Cluster University of Jammu, with its 253rd national rank, has emerged as the third highest-ranked university from Jammu and Kashmir.
Other institutions from the Union Territory included Central University of Jammu at 282nd, Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences at 345th, and Cluster University of Srinagar, Islamic University of Science and Technology, and Government Degree College Shopian, each ranked at 404th.
Vice Chancellor Prof. K. S. Chandrasekar congratulated the faculty members of the Department of Chemistry for this notable accomplishment. He especially acknowledged the leadership of Prof. Chander Shekhar, Dean Faculty of Sciences and the dedicated efforts of Dr. Avtar Changotra, whose research contributions played a pivotal role in securing this recognition.
