Rs 60 cr worth encroached land retrieved, 33 structures razed

SAMBA, May 17: In a major crackdown on drug network by Samba police, 50 kanals of land worth Rs 60 crore which was encroached by them has been retrieved while 33 illegal structures raised by them have been demolished in Balole Khad area near SIDCO, Bari Brahmana.
The demolition drive was jointly carried by Samba police under the overall supervision of SSP Samba, Anuj Kumar and district administration at identified drugs hotspot “Balole Khad” Bari Brahmana. Police said it is part of a focused Anti-Narcotics Enforcement Action being conducted jointly by District Police Samba and the Civil Administration against illegal structures which had become a safe haven for drug peddlers and habitual offenders involved in heroin trafficking.

Police said during the drive 50 Kanals of land valuing Rs.60 crore encroached by the drug peddlers has been retrieved. The land retrieved during the drive belonged to Industrial area SIDCO, Bari Bari Brahmana and accordingly was handed over to the organisation. Boundary fencing of the retrieved land has been completed and the flood lights have also been installed, police added.
The illegally raised structures were being misused for storage, concealment and supply of narcotic substances, particularly heroin, thereby destroying the lives of youth and adversely affecting public order and safety, police said.
The area has been under continuous surveillance and several notorious drug peddlers operating from here have a long criminal history having involved in more than 35 FIRs. Among them included Mohd Baru, son of Mohd Yousaf of Balole Khad Bari Brahmana who is involved in 10 FIRs including NDPS cases and other criminal cases registered at different Police Stations of district Samba and Jammu. Moreover, a PSA warrant has also been issued against him in January 2026, pursuant to which he is absconding.
Other drug peddlers included Dahua Bibi, wife of Mohammed Mohd Baru of Balole Khad Bari Brahmana who is involved in three FIRs including NDPS case and other criminal cases registered at PS, Bari Brahmana, Manshu, son of Bhag Hussain of Balole Khad, Bari Brahmana who is involved in seven FIRs including NDPS cases and other criminal cases registered at PSE Bari Brahmana, Farman Ali @ Munna, son of Bhag Hussain of Balole Khad, Bari Brahmana involved in three NDPS cases registered at PS Bari Brahmana, Farooq Din @ Dana, son of Gashu Din of Balole Khad, Bari Brahmana who is involved in two FIRs including NDPS case registered at PS Bari Brahmana.
Besides, Farooq Ali @ Kana son of Kala Khan of Balole Khad, Bari Brahmana who is involved in six criminal cases registered at PS Bari Brahmana, Haider @ Raju, son of Dhamma Din of Balole Khad, Bari Brahmana who is involved in two criminal cases registered at PS Bari Brahmana, Farman Din, son of Gashu Din of Balole Khad Bari Brahmana who is also involved in two criminal cases registered at PS Bari Brahmana, police said.
Apart from these drug peddlers, several other drug suppliers and criminal elements have also been operating from this area and using these structures for narcotics-related activities, police added.
During the drive, a total of 33 illegal structures including narco palaces of eight drug peddlers raised on the encroached land have been demolished.
