JAMMU, May 16: The Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) has strongly appealed to the Government of Jammu and Kashmir to release salaries in advance ahead of the forthcoming Eid-ul-Azha so that employees can celebrate the holy festival with dignity, peace of mind and without financial stress.
In a statement issued here today, JKTF UT President Mohammad Ashraf Sheikh urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to direct all concerned departments to ensure timely disbursement of salaries preferably before May 25, keeping in view the importance of the sacred occasion.
Sheikh also appealed to the Government to release old-age pensions and clear all pending wages of temporary employees, daily wagers, casual labourers who continue to suffer due to irregular payments. He said these sections of society deserve special attention on humanitarian grounds, especially before major religious festivals.
The JKTF President also urged the Government to announce a four-day holiday period across Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha to facilitate smooth and peaceful celebration of the festival.
