37 vehicles challaned, 9 seized for violations

RAMBAN, May 16: A team of Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Ramban, with the assistance of J&K Police, conducted a comprehensive enforcement drive at various locations to ensure strict compliance with traffic regulations and enhance road safety.
The drive held under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohd Alyas Khan and SSP Ramban, Arun Gupta and during the drive more than 175 vehicles were thoroughly inspected, out of which 37 vehicles were e-challaned for various violations under Motor Vehicles Act and a penalty of Rs. 1,52,500 was recovered.
During the drive, 9 vehicles were seized and 9 driving licences were recommended for suspension for serious violations.
Major offences detected during the drive were overloading, driving without a valid driving licence, non-payment of token tax, expired insurance and expired Pollution Under Control Certificates.
During drive, ARTO Ramban, Varun Bhasin sensitized drivers and transport operators about the importance of adhering to traffic rules.
