POONCH, May 14: The Hospitals in District Poonch are running with the acute shortage of specialists and Medical Officers due to which the public is suffering badly in whole district.
Official sources said that despite having sanctioned posts, Sub District Hospital Mandi has no Physician, Surgeon, Gynaecologist, Pediatrician, Anaesthetist and Dental Surgeon, while nine Medical Officers are available out of 32 sanctioned posts in the block which comprises of whole rural area of Assembly constituency Haveli except District Hospital Poonch and urban area.
District Hospital Poonch is running with the shortage of almost 50 % percent doctors and staff members, SDH Surankote lacks Anaesthetic and Gynaecologist with the acute shortage of Medical Officers in the block, while SDH Mendhar is not having Anaesthetics and three Medical Officers, the block also lacks the availability of Medical Officers.
Due to non- availability of these doctors on SDH level, patients are compelled to visit District Hospital Poonch which also lacks staff, gets over burden and ultimately the people suffers in whole district.
Pertinent to mention that Health Minister Sakeena Itoo during her visit to Poonch five months back, had assured that vacant posts of doctors will be filled up soon but not even a single doctor has been posted as yet in the area.
