Six injured in collision of buses at Manda

JAMMU, May 14: Six persons were injured in the collision of two buses near the Peer Baba Shrine on the Jammu-Udhampur stretch of the National Highway at Manda area here today, officials said.

The accident happened when a Jammu-Katra route bus (JK02B B1188) collided head on with a Bhaderwah-Jammu route bus (JK14B-7883) reportedly due to overtaking by one of the drivers of the two buses, they said.
Immediately after the accident, officials said a rescue operation was launched and all the injured individuals were admitted to Government Medical College Jammu, where their condition is stated to be out of danger.
The injured were identified as Gopal (39), son of Sita Ram of Udhampur, Nisha (20), daughter of Angrez Singh of Katra, Sonali (19), daughter of Rashpal Singh of Katra, Arushi (18) daughter of Ganesh Dass of Katra, Abdul Hamid (23) son of Mohammad Shafi of Chiralla, Doda, and Saqib Shabir (23), son of Shabir Ahmad of Thathri, Doda.
Taking cognisance of the incident, police have registered a case FIR number 129/2026 under sections 281 and 125(a) of the BNS at Police Station Nagrota and launched a manhunt to arrest the absconding driver of a bus reportedly blamed for the accident.
