JAMMU, May 13: The ongoing 78-day Vedic Yajna at Ved Mandir continued on its 32nd day with a spiritually enriching discourse by Yogacharya Swami Ram Swarup Ji, who highlighted the timeless teachings of the four Vedas and their relevance in modern life.
Addressing the gathering, Swami Ram Swarup explained mantras from the Atharvaveda, stating that the Supreme Being has guided humanity to follow the “Devanam Patha” or Devayan Marg — the path of divine virtues and liberation. He said this path is not limited to rituals but is a complete way of life based on truth, righteousness, discipline, compassion and constant remembrance of God.
He urged people to adopt Vedic values in their daily lives, saying regular worship and devotion purify the mind and strengthen moral character. Stressing the importance of healthy living, he also spoke about the value of a ‘sattvic’ diet, saying food has a direct influence on thoughts, conduct and spiritual growth.
Referring to Rigveda mantras, Swami Ji described life and death as part of the cycle of time, or “Kaal,” which repeatedly binds beings to birth and death. He said those who sincerely walk the Devayan path are guided towards spiritual elevation, completeness and divine grace.
He further said that the ultimate aim of human life, according to the Vedas, is to attain Moksha — liberation from suffering, ignorance and the cycle of rebirth — leading to eternal peace and bliss.
Drawing a contrast, Swami Ram Swarup also explained the “Pitrayana Marg,” which he described as a worldly path driven by anger, greed, ego, attachment and material pursuits. Such a life, he said, keeps the soul trapped in suffering and away from God-realisation.
Concluding his discourse, he urged devotees to reflect on the purpose of human birth and consciously choose a life rooted in truth, devotion and spiritual upliftment.
