JAMMU, May 13: BJP spokesperson and convenor, International Affairs, Gaurav Gupta today launched a scathing attack on former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin and DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin over their repeated controversial remarks on Sanatan Dharma and Hindi, accusing the DMK leadership of deliberately insulting Hindu beliefs and attempting to divide the nation for political survival.
Gaurav Gupta said the repeated attacks on Sanatan Dharma by Udhayanidhi Stalin are not accidental statements but part of a calculated political agenda aimed at appeasing a particular vote bank by targeting the faith of millions of Hindus. Referring to Udhayanidhi Stalin’s recent remarks reiterating his stand against Sanatan Dharma, Gupta said such statements are deeply offensive and expose the “anti-Hindu and divisive mindset” of the DMK leadership.
He said Sanatan Dharma has guided Indian civilization for thousands of years and no political leader has the authority to insult the spiritual traditions and cultural heritage of Bharat. “The DMK leadership has crossed all limits of political decency by continuously mocking and attacking the faith of crores of Indians. Such statements are shameful, irresponsible and condemnable,” Gupta said.
Taking strong exception to the repeated rhetoric on “Hindi imposition,” Gaurav Gupta accused the Stalin family of trying to create regional hatred and linguistic divisions to hide their failures on governance, corruption, unemployment and law and order in Tamil Nadu.
“The Stalin family is attempting to poison the minds of people by portraying one Indian language against another. Hindi is not an enemy of any regional language, and the Modi Government has always respected and promoted every Indian language equally,” he stated.
Demanding an unconditional apology from Udhayanidhi Stalin and the DMK leadership, Gupta said freedom of speech does not mean freedom to insult Hindu beliefs or create divisions among Indians on the basis of religion and language.
