JAMMU, May 11: Five alleged drug peddlers were arrested by the police with heroin and charas from three districts of Jammu region today, officials said.
In one of the operations at Battal area in Majalta, they said an Alto car (JK15B-4295) was intercepted.
On search, three individuals travelling in the vehicle were found in possession of 105.80 grams of heroin, officials said.
They were identified as Gulzar Ahmed Bhatt, Adnan Farooq, and Riaz Ahmed Bhat.
Officials said the accused were accordingly booked in case FIR number 66/2026 under sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Majalta and further investigation taken up.
In Samba district, one Rohan Kumar of Teli Basti, Bari Brahamana, was arrested with 7.26 grams of heroin-like substance during routine checking near JDA Colony, Bari Brahamana.
He was booked in case FIR number 122/2026 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Bari Brahamana.
Another alleged drug peddler, identified as Zahoor Beigh of Ram Bagh, Srinagar, was arrested with approximately 3.15 grams of heroin and 70 grams of Charas powder, during routine patrolling duty on the National Highway under the jurisdiction of Police Post Jawahar Tunnel in Ramban district.
He was booked in case FIR number 85/2026 under sections 8/20/21/22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Banihal.
Officials said further investigation in all the cases is underway.
