RAJOURI, May 11: The office of the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Peeri, has issued show cause notices to the teaching staff of Primary School, Mohra Kha in Kotranka area.
As per the notice, the department came to know that the teaching staff of the school, along with students, met a former minister during school hours. It was reported that the meeting was held to demand the construction of a new school building.
The notice states that if these allegations are found to be true, it would amount to unauthorized activities by government employees during duty hours and a violation of government conduct rules.
The department further stated that the possibility of the activity having a political nature cannot be ruled out. It also termed the involvement of students in non-academic activities during school hours as inappropriate.
The notice further mentioned that the issue regarding the construction of the school building had already been forwarded by the department to the appropriate authorities for consideration. Additionally, the local MLA had already visited the institution and assured that the demand would be considered under the development plan.
The ZEO has directed the concerned teachers to submit their explanation within three days from the date of issuance of the notice. The teachers have been asked to clarify under what circumstances they took this step and why disciplinary action should not be initiated against them under the Jammu and Kashmir Government Employees Conduct Rules.
The department also made it clear that if no reply is submitted within the stipulated time, it will be presumed that the concerned teachers have nothing to say in their defense. In such a situation, further action will be taken as per rules without any additional notice.
