JAMMU, May 11 : A one day convention on oncology organized by the Aashray Cancer Trust was held here today.
This was first academic event in Jammu by the Trust.
The program was dedicated to discuss and deliberate on basic workup and management issues focused on cancers of breast, ovary and lung.
Dr Satyanker Gupta, who is also trustee member, gave first talk on Ovarian cancer which was followed by Dr Surbhi Kudyar, who spoke about issues concerning breast cancer diagnosis.
Third session was by Dr Deepak Abrol who discussed at length lung cancer.
The CME was attended by around 20 oncologist and 150 physicians, surgeons and gynecologist of Jammu region.
The guest of honor Director principal ASCOMS Dr Pavan Malhotra said that such awareness should spread to rural regions where resources are limited and patient deserve more attention.
Program highlighted the need for multidisciplinary approach towards treating patients.
Late Dr Rajiv Kotwal was remembered for his tremendous contribution to the patient care.
The program was attended by his wife Dr Meenakshi Kotwal and family.
The dignitaries who shared their experiences and insights for patient care and treatment included Dr Neeraj Bishnoi (RCOO American oncology institute), Dr R P Kudyar( Renowned endocrinologist), Dr Anil Gupta( Retd HOD Medicine), Dr Praveen Yograj, Dr Raj Rishi, Dr Arvind Kohli, Dr Aneeta Singh and Dr Geetanjali Gupta.
