SRINAGAR, May 10: The police today seized eight vehicles during a crackdown on illegal mining activities in Baramulla and Awantipora districts.
A police spokesperson said that in Baramulla’s Chandoosa area, police seized two Tippers and one Dumper involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of stones and sand during naka checking. “Another Tipper without valid documents was also seized,” the spokesperson said.
Police also seized two four-wheelers and one Motorcycle for violations of transport norms during the drive, the spokesperson added.
Meanwhile, in Awantipora, Police Station Khrew seized two Tippers at Mandakpal Khrew for their alleged involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
The spokesperson said cases under relevant sections of law have been registered and further investigation has been taken up.
Police reiterated their commitment to curbing illegal mining and warned violators of strict legal action.
