Kishtwar observes Shaheedi Diwas, 70-ft Tricolour unveiled at Hidyal Chowk

KISHTWAR, May 10: Shaheedi Diwas was observed with deep emotion and patriotic fervour in Kishtwar on Saturday, where a 70-foot-long National Flag was unveiled at Hidyal Chowk in memory of victims of terrorism and those who sacrificed their lives for the nation.

The ceremony witnessed participation from all sections of society, including school students, youth, prominent citizens and residents from different parts of Kishtwar district. The atmosphere at Hidyal Chowk remained charged with patriotic slogans as people gathered to honour the martyrs and express solidarity with families affected by terrorism.
In an emotional moment, the Tricolour was hoisted by members of martyr families whose loved ones were killed in targeted killings, massacres and terrorist attacks in the region over the past decades.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Kishtwar Shagun Parihar said the National Flag unveiled at Hidyal Chowk had been dedicated to all brave souls who laid down their lives for the country and to families who bore the pain of terrorism with courage and dignity. She said Shaheedi Diwas was not merely a day of remembrance, but a symbol of collective resolve against terrorism and divisive forces.
Paying tribute to the victims, Shagun Parihar said the Tricolour standing tall at Hidyal Chowk symbolized the victory of patriotism, courage and national unity over fear and terrorism.
The function was attended by Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Sunil Sharma, social activist Dr Vikrant, Sanatan Dharm Sabha members Roshan Lal Sen and Arvind Parihar, DGPC president Attar Singh, Minority Morcha district president Mansoor Matoo, BJP district president Kishtwar Ravi Parihar and other prominent citizens.
