Pharmacy sealed in Sopore

SRINAGAR, May 9: Police, in coordination with Drug Control authorities, today sealed another chemist shop in Sopore as part of the ongoing enforcement drive.
According to officials, a joint inspection conducted at Wadoora Sopore found a chemist shop operating in violation of the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
The shop was being operated by Rafeeq Ahmad Bhat, son of Farooq Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Wadoora Sopore.
Following the inspection, the Drug Inspector sealed the premises on the spot after completing legal formalities.
Authorities also initiated legal action against the proprietor under relevant provisions of law, while the licence of the shop was suspended.
Police said the latest action has taken the total number of such enforcement measures against unlicensed and non-compliant chemist shops in the district to eleven.
Reiterating strict enforcement under the anti-drug campaign, police said no unlicensed or non-compliant medical store would be allowed to operate and warned that any violation involving illegal sale or storage of medicines or psychotropic substances would invite stringent legal action.
