JAMMU, May 9: Renowned orthopaedic surgeon Dr Ranjit Singh has successfully performed a complex bilateral knee replacement surgery on an 85-year-old patient with multiple serious health conditions, using his AI-assisted “3D RoboLens Zero Error” technique at Livasa Hospital, Amritsar.
The patient, Balram Singh of Abohar, had approached the hospital with severe knee problems requiring replacement of both joints. However, the case was considered highly challenging due to his advanced age and several pre-existing ailments, including a history of bypass surgery, thyroid tumour, kidney disease and liver complications.
Despite the challenges, Dr Ranjit Singh and his medical team successfully carried out the bilateral knee replacement with the help of Artificial Intelligence-driven 3D RoboLens technology, which is designed to enhance precision, alignment and accuracy during joint replacement procedures.
Hospital sources said the AI-based technique enabled detailed pre-surgical planning and minimised the possibility of error, helping ensure a smooth operation. The patient reportedly responded well after surgery and recovered faster than expected.
Doctors attending the case said Balram Singh was able to resume routine activities within days of the procedure and is now steadily regaining mobility and independence.
Dr Ranjit Singh, who is known for handling complicated orthopaedic cases, said modern technology combined with surgical expertise can significantly improve outcomes even in elderly and high-risk patients. He added that advancements such as AI-assisted systems are transforming the field of joint replacement surgery.
