Srinagar, May 9: Police today registered an FIR after a viral video allegedly showed a group of persons brutally attacking a dog with sticks and stones in Magam area of Budgam district.
Officials said FIR No. 57/2026 has been registered at Police Station Magam under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
“An investigation has been launched to identify the persons seen in the video and ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the incident,” they said.
The video, widely circulated on social media, shows several persons assaulting the dog as bystanders watched.
According to officials, the incident occurred after the animal tried to bite a man in the area.
They said the man first caught hold of the dog, following which others gathered at the spot and began beating the animal with sticks and stones.
