Police attaches property of drug peddler worth Rs 50 lakhs in Anantnag

JAMMU, May 8: Jammu and Kashmir Police have attached a residential property worth around Rs 93 lakh in Chandigarh in connection with an NDPS case registered at Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu after investigation revealed links to alleged narcotics trafficking.
A police official said the case originated on January 14 this year when a naka party of Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu apprehended one Arun Singh, a resident of Rajeev Nagar, Narwal, Jammu, and recovered 5.61 grams of heroin from his possession.
Following the recovery, he said a case FIR number 02/2026 under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act was registered and further investigation was taken up.
The police official said that during sustained investigation, police suspected a wider narcotics network and subsequently traced financial transactions allegedly linked to drug trafficking activities.
The investigation later led police to Chandigarh, where co-accused Rishi Singh, brother of Arun Singh, and originally a resident of Rajeev Nagar, Narwal, was found residing, he said.
The police official said the investigation revealed that a residential property located at House number 739, Sector 38-A, Chandigarh, had allegedly been acquired using proceeds generated through illicit narcotics trade connected with the case.
Acting on the findings, he said a team from Bagh-e-Bahu Police Station Thursday attached the immovable property under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act dealing with illegally acquired assets linked to narcotics trafficking.
Police described the action as part of its continued crackdown on drug networks and financial assets created through illegal narcotics trade.
