RAJOURI, May 7: The police seized a vehicle loaded with 12 bovine animals being smuggled to Kashmir via Mughal Road in Chingas area of Rajouri last night.
Official sources said that a police team from Police Post Chingas during naka at Jabbar, intercepted a Tata Mobile vehicle, bearing registration No. JK02AN-2842 for checking. During checking, the police found 12 bovine animals loaded in the vehicle in a cruel and inhumane manner in violation of legal provisions. The rescued bovine animals were shifted to a safer location and necessary legal action was initiated.
A case FIR No. 214/2026 under sections 223 BNS, 11 Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and 52 Motor Vehicles Act has been registered at Police Station, Rajouri in this connection.
