JAMMU, May 7 : With the objective of strengthening awareness against drug abuse in Jammu and Kashmir, a massive public awareness rally was organized here today in the Bhalwal area.
The program was organized under the “Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan” being conducted under the guidance of LG Manoj Sinha.
The event was organized by Shri Kailakh Jyotish avim Vedic Sansthan Trust, with enthusiastic participation from various sections of society, youth, social organizations, educational institutions and local residents.
The awareness march commenced from Bhalwal Chowk and concluded at S D Memorial School, Karwanda (Jammu North Constituency).
On this occasion, the chief guest, senior IAS officer and Chief Electoral Officer of Jammu & Kashmir, Sanjeev Verma, addressed the gathering and said that drug addiction has become a serious social and psychological challenge for society.
He stated that the youth are the greatest strength of any nation, and if they fall prey to drug addiction, the future of both society and the country is adversely affected.
Addressing the program, Mahant Rohit Shastri, president of Shri Kailakh Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan Trust, said that drug addiction affects not only an individual but also the entire family and society.
He stated that protecting the youth from drug abuse is one of the biggest social responsibilities of the present time and every section of society must come forward to address this issue.
Among those present on the occasion were former Chairman of Jammu & Kashmir Bank and current Board of Directors member R K Chhibber, SDM North Deepak Kumar, SP Rural Ravinder Singh, Tehsildar Bhalwal Monica Sharma, former VDC Kuldeep Kumar, former Sarpanch Anjali Sharma, former Sarpanch Rajdev Singh, former Sarpanch Vandana Kumari, Rakesh Gandotra, SHO Garota, Bhushan Jamwal, K D Singh, Lucky Sharma, Rajan Singh Happy, Dr Jai Pal Singh, Nihal Singh, Fakir Singh, Bobby Singh, Uttam Chand Sharma, Pramod Sharma, M.L. Verma, along with several other dignitaries and citizens.
At the conclusion of the program, the organizers expressed gratitude to all participants, administrative officers, social organizations and local residents, while reaffirming their commitment to continuously work towards building a drug-free society.
